ABOUT US

COASTAL is now strictly focused on interior design around the country.

Our projects include Nantucket, New York City, Palm Beach, Washington, DC, Chatham, MA, Sebastopol, CA, Todos Santos, Mexico, Greenwich, CT, Wellington, FL, Westport, CT, Boston, Vermont

COASTAL is owned by Karen Fisher, who moved to Nantucket from New York City after 19 years in the fashion business with Calvin Klein in various positions including head of Product Development and Vice President of Merchandising of the Collection.  During those years Karen developed the sense of style that has influenced her design philosophy.

Kate Bayer is Karen's colleague and partner in design.  Kate has accumulated broad experience creating interiors for more than 25 years.  Her experience with interiors, renovations and new construction enriches COASTAL'S signature look. Kate's aesthetic blends easily with Karen's, resulting in a seamlessly integrated and complimentary team.

Our design philosophy is to draw the client in and show them the way to a simple, calm & comfortable environment with the colors and elements of nature being the guide.  We are influenced by the light and color of the sky, fog, grasses, sand, glistening water, and trees in all the seasons.  This philosophy applies to the shop and our interior design projects.

The use of linen, wool, cotton, stone, steel, leather & wood in soft colors of sage, indigo, grays, flax, lavender, white & charcoal form a natural palette & textural appeal.

The look that people crave and rarely find is what we create at COASTAL.  If pressed to put into words it is a contemporary beach house look which can translate to a tranquil city apartment and beyond.  Vintage elements with a lovely patina mixed just right with the textures and colors described above.

We work with architects from the beginning of the project with new construction and overseeing major renovations including kitchens and bathroom, choosing all materials, and providing turnkey service and creating a flow from the interior to outside landscape architecture.
